The CIC methodology
A custody case does not become simpler by treating every problem separately.
I teach you how communication, orders, money, the children and court preparation affect one another, so a new incident does not have to take over your view of the whole situation.
You can learn to examine the whole situation before reacting to the latest argument.
If you are preparing for an attorney meeting about an exchange, begin with that exchange. Find the date, the current order and the communication around it. Then ask which earlier events help explain the concern. That gives the history a purpose instead of making every disagreement part of the opening explanation.
Case Brain is CIC’s name for keeping that wider understanding of the matter together. We look at what is established, what is reported and what remains uncertain. Ashley’s founder account explains why learning to examine those distinctions became central to CIC.
When you document, someone else needs to be able to follow what happened.
Paper Trail™
What should you document? How can an observation stay separate from interpretation? We work with chronology, original sources, surrounding communication, corroboration and contradictory information. Then we consider what an attorney or another professional needs to be able to follow.
Start with purposeful custody documentationSimilar events need comparison before they can support an explanation.
Pattern Beneath™
Recurring allegations, escalation, communication interference, financial discrepancies or procedural conflict may deserve comparison. Child withdrawal and possible loyalty conflict require the same care. Similarity is not proof; differences, gaps and other explanations remain part of the work.
Read about patterns and competing explanationsHow you respond matters to both the conflict and the relationship.
Return Within™
Return Within™ addresses parent steadiness, communication, relational pressure and protecting or rebuilding connection. It includes learning to pause before reacting, keep adult conflict out of the child’s relationship and sustain healthier responses after an order. Where an order governs an issue, its actual requirements remain separate from the argument. This is education, not therapy or a determination about either parent.
Explore parent leadership, communication and relationship supportThe event ahead determines what you need to prepare.
Case Compass™
A hearing, mediation, attorney meeting, discovery task or proposal determines the preparation needed now. Education about procedural posture, rules, statutes, evidence and burdens helps you ask informed questions. CIC supports research literacy and preparation; an attorney determines legal strategy.
Explore court and attorney preparationThe expenses and property questions have become a case of their own.
Money Trail
Expenses, support, reimbursements, accounts, assets, liabilities, property and disclosures can affect other decisions. We connect the relevant financial history and support, separate disputed from unverified amounts and prepare questions for attorneys, accountants or other qualified professionals.
Explore financial and property recordsA changed relationship may involve more than one part of this work.
Examining a child’s withdrawal can involve behavior across time, documentation, the parenting plan, your response and preparation for a professional conversation. You learn why these approaches work together. We do not assume alienation, diagnose a family member or promise a result.
